I'm Interested in Confirmation or Reception

When people start attending St. James, or even after many years, they often choose to become more formally affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Everyone who gives financially and attends semi-regularly is an official member, but there are further steps adults can take.

1. Confirmation. If you've been baptized but not confirmed in the Episcopal Church, you can meet with the clergy, take a short course on the tradition, and be confirmed by the bishop at his visitation.

2. Reception. If you've been confirmed in another tradition (Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc.) you can be "received" into the Episcopal Church by the bishop at his visitation. This means having your confirmation recognized and received by our tradition.

3. You can simply be welcomed in a public way during church one Sunday, with our without the bishop.

All these are great ways to show commitment to St. James and the Episcopal Church, and people often find them to be very meaningful steps.
